Our Mission

Clear Ear Cheer is a mobile ear care service dedicated to filling the gap left by NHS service cuts. We provide professional earwax removal, ear health checks, and hearing aid maintenance directly to care homes, medical practices, pharmacies, and individuals across Essex and Suffolk.

We combine clinical expertise with a warm, personal approach—making ear care a positive experience for everyone, particularly older adults and those in care settings.

This puts millions at risk of preventable hearing loss, social isolation, and declining mental health. Many GP surgeries no longer offer earwax removal, leaving vulnerable groups—especially older adults—with few affordable options.

Clear Ear Cheer was founded to address this urgent need.

Meet Jon

My name is Jon, and I'm the founder and sole clinician at Clear Ear Cheer. I established this service because I saw firsthand the devastating impact untreated hearing loss can have on quality of life.

Why I Started Clear Ear Cheer

I watched my mum struggle with hearing loss as she moved through the care system. Simple earwax buildup went unaddressed for months, affecting her ability to communicate, engage with others, and maintain her independence. Conversations became difficult. Social activities became isolating. Her world became quieter and smaller.

That's when I realized the gap NHS cuts had created—and decided to do something about it.

I come from a family of nurses, so caregiving has always been in my DNA. But seeing my mum's experience in care homes showed me specifically how crucial ear health is for older adults, and how often it's overlooked in busy care settings.

My Approach to Ear Care

I completed specialized training with the Healthcare Professional Institute (HCPI) to become a qualified ear care practitioner. I'm fully insured through NACAS (£5 million professional indemnity), Enhanced DBS checked, and committed to ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.

Using advanced video otoscopy and gentle removal techniques (microsuction, irrigation, and manual instrumentation), I provide safe, effective care in the comfort of your home, care facility, or workplace.

I particularly enjoy working with older adults and those in care settings—where residents often affectionately call me "The Ear Man." I understand that many older people have had difficult experiences with ear care, so I take my time, explain everything I'm doing, and ensure every appointment is as comfortable as possible.

A Family-Supported Service

Clear Ear Cheer is a family operation. My wife supports the business behind the scenes, handling administration and scheduling, which allows me to focus entirely on providing patient, compassionate care to every client.

As the sole clinician for now, I offer dedicated personal attention while building trusted relationships with care homes and individuals across Essex and Suffolk. I plan to expand the team in the future as demand grows, but our commitment to quality and personal care will always remain the same.
